Dr Mohammad Shir Ali

BMedSc (Hons) MD FRACP

Dr Mohammad Shir Ali is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist with expertise in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. He completed a Bachelor of Medical Science (Honours) at Western Sydney University, graduating with the University Medal, before obtaining his Doctor of Medicine from the University of New South Wales (UNSW).

Following specialist physician training in Gastroenterology through the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, Dr Shir Ali completed Advanced Endoscopy Fellowships at John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle and Monash Health in Melbourne. He also undertook advanced endoscopy training at the Osaka Medical and Pharmaceutical University Hospital in Japan, an internationally recognised centre for advanced therapeutic endoscopy.

Dr Shir Ali provides comprehensive care across all areas of gastroenterology and hepatology, with expertise in gastroscopy, colonoscopy, bowel cancer screening, and disorders of the oesophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver and pancreas. He has advanced expertise in endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) for complex gastrointestinal polyps.

Alongside his clinical practice, Dr Shir Ali is actively involved in research, medical education and quality improvement in gastrointestinal endoscopy. He has presented his work at national and international scientific meetings and is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based, patient-centred care.
