Dr Shireen Tabatabai

Shireen Tabatabai graduated from Monash University with honors in 2000. Shireen completed her internship, physician training and Gastroenterology training at Monash Medical Centre. She was awarded the fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians in 2008.
She is currently a consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist at Monash Medical Centre. Shireen is also involved in clinical trials in liver disease.
Shireen works in private practice at Clayton and Moorabbin and performs Endoscopy in Clayton and Bayside Endoscopy Moorabbin.
She has admitting rights at Jessie McPherson Clayton and Cabrini Malvern.
Shireen Tabatabai’s clinical experience includes patients with liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome and performing upper and lower GI endoscopy (gastroscopy and colonoscopy). She has a special interest in diseases of the liver.
Dr Alexander Hodge
MBBS (Hons), BSc, PhD, FRACP
Alexander Hodge originally hails from Vancouver Canada but has resided in Australia since 2000.
Dr Hodge worked as a molecular biologist in Canada before he commenced medicine at The University of Sydney. He graduated with honours, then completed his gastroenterology specialist training between Canberra and Melbourne at The Alfred Hospital.
In early 2015, he completed his PhD at Monash University focusing on stem cell therapy for chronic liver diseases and lifestyle modification for fatty liver disease / metabolic syndrome.
Dr Hodge is a consultant gastroenterologist and heptologist at Monash Health where he attends gastroenterology and hepatology clinics, performs endoscopy (gastroscopy and colonoscopy) and runs his own specialised NAFLD clinic.
He also practices in Frankston and has admitting rights at Frankston Private Hospital, Monash Medical Centre and Jessie McPherson Private Hospital in Clayton.
He is a lecturer at Monash University and was awarded the inaugural Monash University Clinical School Early Career Practitioner Fellowship in 2015 - 2017 to continue his research in the field of fibrosis and fatty liver disease.
He is the principal investigator on multiple pharmaceutical clinical trials for fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Dr Hodge’s clinical expertise includes the management of gastrointestinal diseases and obesity however he has a special interest in diseases of the liver, in particular, NAFLD.
